Technical Drilling Services Available
Indodrill offers the following drilling services:
Drilling with diamond core bits providing industry standard nominal core sizes, PQ, HQ, and NQ & BQ as required for client needs. Core samples are removed from the hole by use of wireline inner tube retrieval system.
Wireline coring provides high quality representative samples of formations drilled.
Sizes PQ,HQ,NQ are available in Triple-tube which protects the quality of samples in unconsolidated ground.
Where drilling plans require targets to be intercepted at depth with accuracy. Target accuracy is achieved through extensive forward planning and execution by way of down-hole wedges, core barrel selection and use of down-hole motors. Where required, several 'Daughter holes' are branched off from the 'Mother hole'. This approach provides savings in deeper target zones and multiple intercepts are required. Directional Drilling can also be used for remedial problem solving down-hole such as side-tracking gear left-in-hole.
Similar to surface diamond core drilling but performed underground. Uses wireline coring system, extracting core samples from underground locations. Holes are drilled from -90degree to +60 degrees (up holes). Provides infill & grade control sampling ahead of mining. Also used for deep exploration without the need to drill overburden formations from surface.

Multipurpose drilling utilizes a single drill rig that has the capability of both RC drilling and then further extends the hole using wireline diamond methods.
Drilling with compressed air and normally by use of Down-hole hammer.Drill rods are dual-tubed. Compressed air is pushed down the rod and supplies energy to operate the hammer to break rock & make sample. Air & sample then rises from the hole through the inner tube and is collected as representative sample at surface.
Drilling for the purpose of ground water extraction. Water bores are used for environmental investigation, potable water supply, agriculture stock needs, construction and mine dewatering. Strict standards apply to water bore construction and thorough forward planning is required.
Accurate sample collection for the Mining Geology client to assist with Mine Production Planning.
Grade Control Drilling uses both RC & Diamond core samples. Samples are sent to an on-site Assay Laboratory to ascertain mineralogy.
Uses specialist down-hole tools and drill head system. High frequency vibrations produced inside the drill-head, resonate through dual skin drill pipe and open-core bit. Hole is advanced without the use of fluid or air medium provides a representative sample of strata without contamination by chemicals or fluids. This is done when samples are required for testing for contamination in groundwater or to drill monitoring wells. Wells may be drilled for the treatment of groundwater or for confirmation of the presence of ground aquifers. Drilling methods for this vary depending on the ground conditions and the amount of sample required. The systems we employ include hollow stem augers, soil probing with weight drop, direct push window sampling, and sonic drilling.
The principal drilling methods used in geotechnical drilling include: mud rotary, hollow-stem auger, diamond coring and roto-sonic. Mainly used in the civil and engineering industry to determine ground formation suitability and stability and helps to determine the requirements prior to project planning and construction.
Coal Bed Methane (CBM)
Coal Bed Methane (CBM)/Coal Seam Gas (CSG) drilling is used for both exploration and production bores in coal seam zones of interest. Production bores are completed using Air or Mud rotary system. In seam drilling using down-hole motors is an option selected to maximise production from a single well head. The purpose for bores can be to de-gas a working mine and/or produce CSG for industry. The gas in coal seams is predominantly Methane (CH4).
CSG Exploration often uses Wireline Coring method. Specific core handling procedures are required. Cores in the zones of interest are put into 'Desorption' canisters and measured for gas content & rock permeability. CSG drilling requires Well Control Methods & Standards. State or Territory laws may also apply.
